Every master of Aikido anytime and anywhere Heard a call and reached harmony with heaven and earth Many paths lead to the peak of the Fuji Mountain But this peak is unique – it’s Love
Morihej Uesiba
Why hasn’t anyone exceeded Morihej Uesiba in aikido? Just because it is senseless. People who reached enlightment through aikido practice don’t seek down-to-earth popularity. Moreover, I assume that they are so far from human sins and usual weaknesses that acknowledgment means nothing to them. They could be rich, successful, ingenious and anonymous or very well known – whatever they choose to be for the time-being. Aikido as a system of self-development has assimilated almost everywhere in the world so there is no point in its excessive advertising. Apart from that, the family of the founder is capable of managing all branch aikido organizations around the world. The message Morihej Uesiba has left behind him is clear enough to reach satori (englightment). Those aikido masters who gave reached enlightment have only to follow the path, predetermined by the world order.
I usually ask people who regret not having a second Morihej Uesiba two questions – why people who have probably reached Uesiba’s level of consciousness necessarily make it known and is it possible to explain outstanding things by means of ordinary syntax.
Does it seem possible to you that one can explain to a fifteenth century person the basics of electricity or aviation not going beyond the figures of speech of that time. I haven’t explained any of these phenomena to myself and I also can’t figure out how to cut Chinese food sticks with a sheet of paper. I took for granted the explanations offered to me at school. Whatever you think about it – explanations are just attempts to help us mentally come to terms with reality.
Misunderstanding causes anxiety, anxiety evokes fear. Any seemingly logical explanation creates an illusion of safe knowledge. Still we depend on verbal ways of interpreting reality. As G. G. Markes put it in his “One Hundred Years of Solitude” as far as people believe in magic they live in a magical world, when they start to believe in technologies – their world becomes that of technology.
Even during a century – a human life’s long period of time – the fundamental theory of elementary physics has changed three times. Therefore, I dare say, that the people who have experienced an “insight” possess a rather different mode of thinking from the mode ordinary people have.
People who are, so to say, spiritually gifted think in other categories and aspire to values, different from usual socially predetermined ones.
Enlighted people find it impossible to establish a connection between their spiritual world and the world of ordinary people – this is a one-way road. This is the reason why real Masters are unnoticed by others.
Spiritually gifted people live in unique harmony with the World Order and are sensitive to the signs Nature gives to them. From time to time one of the Masters brings about changes to the World Order and it gives an opportunity to the humanity to carry on its existence. The first half of the 20th century was full of worries and anxious expectations, which were grounded by the invention of weapons of mass destruction. The paper of Vasiliy Kandinsky <On spirituality in Art> is dated the same period. Morihej Uesiba’s aikido comes into being as a system of self-development and a synthetic warcraft. Two people belonging to different fields of human activity leave to the humanity homogeneous methods that offer to replace destructive thinking with creative.
Those Masters who are the driving force of positive changes sacrifice a certain part of their life as Morihej Uesiba had to do leaving his shelter in mountains to share the knowledge he possessed. That was the aim of his life. The coming of a second Morihej Uesiba in aikido is pointless and impossible.
